One in a Million
BARRI isn’t like any of the other companies or product I have featured in the past. This organization is one that I hold extremely near and dear to my heart. In early May of this year, I was messaged by Ashely the amazing founder of BARRI Handbag. Her message was asking if Rain For Change could possibly feature BARRI Handbag, a start up company at the time. A little about BARRI is that they are luxury vegan handbag that donates 10% of each sale to Operation Underground Railroad, a nonprofit that rescues children from sex trafficking. This company was founded on the belief that people matter. Equipped with that in mind and having a strong “why” is what pushed their founder and designer to create BARRI.
When first receiving Ashely’s message I honestly didn’t think anything of it. It was no different from the rest of the message I get daily to be featured on my Instagram account. However, at that time I had never featured a start-up company before so I wasn’t sure how it would go. But I just hoped for the best…and let me tell you, that is what I got. It wasn’t till months after posting about BARRI handbag that I realize some of the impact that Rain For Change does have. About a month ago I had contacted Ashely to ask her a few questions. As the conversation had went on, she had said something that changed my whole life.
“I know from feedback that a couple of people backed my Kickstarter because of your Instagram post and I wanted to thank you.”
Even though this was just a simple little thought, it’s the thought that change my whole prospective. Rain For Change may have helped BARRI Handbags become more then just a Kickstarter. However, BARRI helped me see the true impact that I can and do have. They showed me that the work I am doing is helping those companies that are fighting to make a difference. BARRI opened my eyes.
